Rules and Expectations –“Steps to Success” Ms. Pramik’s English Class Disciplinary Expectations
1. Students are expected to be seated and quiet when the bell rings.
2. Students are expected to be quiet unless they have raised their hands and been given permission to
speak. Talking is also permitted during group work.
3. Students must have the specified textbooks/notebooks in class daily. Students must also have paper
and writing utensils daily.
4. No horseplay (pushing, shoving, hitting, etc.) is allowed in or around the classroom.
5. Students must raise their hands to get permission to leave their seats.
6. The fourth tardy in a semester will result in a detention. Similarly, each tardy thereafter will result in a
detention or other punishment. (See student handbook for details- Pickerington Local School's Website)
7. Students may NOT have cell phones or wireless communication devices out or on during class. If the
student is caught with the cell phone or wireless device out, on, or being used in with out permission in class, he/she will be given a detention and lose participation points. Phones are to be used for educational purposes only (look up references, reading…not social media) If the problem continues, calls home and office referrals could follow. Laptop use is at the teacher’s discretion.
8. All formal writing assignments (paragraphs, essays, reports, etc.) must be typed using google docs.
9. Students may choose to lose participation points twice in a semester to go and get assignments which
they have forgotten in their lockers. They would lose five participation points each time.
10. Students who have an excused absence will be given the number of days they were gone to make up
work. When students have returned from excused absences, it is their responsibility to check with the teacher for missed assignments. Students missing school the day of a test are required to make arrangements with me on the day of their return to take the make-up test within the allotted time.
11. The grading policies of the district (as specified in the student handbook) will be followed.
Standardized assessments will be given in accordance with these policies.
12. Students should purchase a three-ring binder (1.5 inches thick) with five vinyl dividers with pockets.
13.. Students will need access to the Internet for online vocabulary study “VOCABULARY.COM”. If you do not have a computer, you have a problem to solve. Plan to use computer in study hall and media center. Plan ahead!
